John Mayer @ Sound Advice Amphitheater 8/7/07

When John walked out on stage and said "I've got more than one show in me, and I'm puttin' it down tonight!" he wasn't kidding. The energy and creativeness in the guitarwork at this show was amazing. John Mayer is likely at the same time the most appreciated (by his fans), and the most underrated (by the general guitarstapo) guitarist around today. While at times he's been described (sometimes accurately) as taking pages from Jimi Hendrix', Stevie Ray Vaughan's, and Eric Clapton's books, the soloing style he's developed is quickly becoming his and his alone.

Tolexing Isn't THAT hard . . .

I'll admit, I was a little afraid of how hard it would be to cover my amp with Tolex. Having never done it before, and having had a bad experience with the grill cane, I was nervous.

But today, my dad and I started, albeit slowly, to cover the amp with Tolex. We did the back brace piece, and the front plate (that will hold the logo), and it went surprisingly well!

Our efforts look professional, clean, and neat. Next, we will tackle the whole box. That won't happen until next friday. Oh well, anticipation is a good thing.
